Coating Performance Starts With The Slab

A coating system can only perform as well as the surface underneath it allows. Before anything is quoted, the existing slab is assessed along with how the area will be used, the finish required and the preparation the floor needs.

Condition of the existing concrete, including cracks, wear and previous coatings.

How the area is used: foot traffic, vehicles, loads, wash-down or storage.

Garage Epoxy & Flake Flooring

Residential garages / decorative flake / sealed finish

Flake and epoxy coating systems for home garages and other suitable residential concrete areas. Coloured flake is broadcast into the coating and sealed over the top, which gives a textured surface that hides dust and tyre marks and cleans up easily.

What to consider

The slab is ground and profiled first so the coating can key into the concrete rather than sit on the closed surface.

Flake blend, colour and gloss level change the look of the space and how much it shows dust.

Edges, transitions and other floor details are addressed as part of the installation and finishing process.

Coating systems for workshops, warehouses, storage areas, commercial premises and other higher-use concrete floors. The system is selected according to how the area is used and what the floor is exposed to, rather than applying the same build to every job.

Concrete Resurfacing & Repair

Cracks / spalling / worn slabs / substrate correction

Damaged concrete is addressed before a coating is considered. Cracks, worn areas and spalled concrete are assessed and treated where repair is appropriate, so the substrate is sound enough to carry the system that goes over it.

What to consider

Not every crack or joint is treated the same way. The approach depends on what the crack is doing and where it sits.

Required repairs should be identified during assessment and included in the recommended scope where appropriate.

Some slabs are better suited to a repair and resurfacing approach than to a thin coating alone.

Diamond grinding / dust extraction / coating adhesion

Diamond grinding with dust extraction opens the concrete surface and builds the profile a coating needs to bond to. Where suitable, existing coatings and surface contamination are removed as part of preparation, and the slab is assessed before a system is selected.

Preparation is one of the biggest factors affecting coating adhesion and long-term performance.
